I’m in Topolo / Topolove today : Final stop of this giro d’Italia…
It’s a small village in the pre-Alps, once nearly abandonned, now duly renovated and inhabited once a year (for the past 15 or so years) for a two week arts and music fesival. I’ve not really known anything quite like it before.
It’s bang on the border with Slovenia and yesterday Enrico (Ciboselvatico) and I got a a little happily lost, crossing over into bear territory, drinking warm beer, howling along to Billy Idol, supping up the view of minature goats and horses grazing amid pastel mountain flowers and mauve rocks, whizzing by.
After Oasi San Marino, and groggily seeing the Sicilian boys off at 6am for their bus (ha ha!), I spent an incredible day exploring the Southern coastline, sipping cafeĀ granita with two wonderful sisters- Gloria and Tania- harp and harpsichord players respectively. An afternoon hiding inside from the gruelling 38 degrees was lost, childlike, tinkering on all of the 6 harps and the harpsichord… heaven…
Ciao for now ragazzi….. a show is starting somewhere in the riddled cobbled streets below the window…xxxxx
