harping on
So, confirmation was finally made last week by American label Drag City that Joanna Newsom’s new (triple) album, ‘Have One on Me’ will be released on 23rd February.
Bated breath all round, as her last album ‘Ys’ came out back in 2006, and people were beginning to talk, and clock-watch.
I’m excited, and I look forward to hearing it. It took me months before...
year of biodiversity
I sat in one of my favourite places in Brighton today- St Ann’s Well’s Garden’s Cafe- and had a coffee meeting with a very enthusiastic park ranger who charmed me into business.
2010 has been declared the ‘year of biodiversity’ by the UN (apparently). Brighton and Hove are all over it with each month dedicated to celebrating a particular endangered species. There...
Included on compilation album; free to download.
But not quite yet! ‘Threads’ from ‘Diving Down’ will be featured on Fatea Music Magazine’s ‘Openings’- the first of their 2010 compilation series. Cool. Favourite the link and download a bunch of great stuff including a Fort King track from 1st Feb:
“The Fatea Showcase Sessions are designed to provide greater exposure to artists that have...
living without money
Got this link in my emails this morning, after a walk along the beach.
Drawn outside by the impossibly blue and bright sky. Sat on the wet pebbles for an age, felt them rumble beneath me as the tide line drew in. The horizon invisible between upper and underworlds- just one broad sheen. Simple pleasures.
This woman discusses going feral in the city, and as my friend titled the email, it is...

day-sleepers
Yesterday was a very long day (waking at 3am to catch the return flight from Berlin, and teaching in the evening until 8.45pm) so I allowed myself the luxury of sleeping-in today, half-waking to the murmur of Radio 4 on the 1950s Bush that receives only LW.
Not Test Match cricket today. I smile; there’s only so much ‘charming’ banter loosely associated with a sport about which...
new best friend:
Okay, so part of me upgrading myself into the techno world includes befriending technology and allowing it to slip into my life and ‘improve’ some of my normal routines. Pretty reluctantly I downloaded this-

woodpecker wooliams- titting around
Yep. The inevitable has happened… 2010 marks the Merry Woodpecker coming down tentatively from her tree and joining in the phosphorescent glim-glam world of technology. [Funky little video-camera: check. Computer-based recordings and all the trimmings: check.]
So: Welcome to my e-world. Make yourself at home. I’d love to offer you an Earl Grey and some homemade bakewell tart or a...
